(Aurora, COLO) – Today, Phil Burton senior vice president of facilities and purchasing at the Graebel Companies, Inc., has announced that the Graebel world headquarters located in Aurora, Colorado has qualified for the Energy Star building certification. The Graebel world headquarters has been rated among the top 75-percent energy efficient buildings in the U.S. Rocky Mountain region. Built in 1999, the three-story facility is on the global mobility Company’s 20-plus acre campus nearby the Denver International Airport.

In an audit conducted by EnerGXpert™ that is associated with Xcel Energy®, energy consumption and demand at the Graebel world headquarters was measured and tabulated monthly. During the past 36-months and dependent on the month the Graebel facility on average reduced its energy consumption by 10- to 15-percent; and, on average monthly demand decreased from 488KW to 350KW. With water a highly-prized commodity in the arid Colorado climate and western U.S. states, the conservancy measures that were adopted at the Company’s headquarters also resulted in a water consumption reduction of 25- to 30-percent during the same period.

According to Burton, “For many years Graebel has adopted and implemented environmentally-friendly and sustainable measures worldwide. In addition to this recent Energy Star certification that has recognized our efforts, the Tetra Laval organization honored Graebel with its Environmental award for excellence.  Our headquarters’ international division’s team holds the ISO 14001:2004EMS designation.  Our Company-owned van line, commercial workplace services and moving and storage divisions’ employ recycled moving container products, strictly follow eco-friendly practices which reduce landfill use, gauge our carbon footprint and far more. And, Graebel takes deliberate steps to find ways to practice the United Nations’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) methodology. “

“The Energy Star certification is a pre-requisite to earn a LEED silver certification. It is the Graebel organization’s objective for our facilities to become LEED-certified within the next 36-months,” concluded Burton.
